Who I Am

My name is Justin Underwood, or J as my friends and family call me. I am a 33 year old tattooed and bearded papa bear, kind soul and positive thinking individual. I am a believer in love, in free thinking and marching to the beat of your own drum.

What I Do

I am an IT nerd by trade, but I wear many, many hats in this life. I am a poet, a storyteller, and a positive vibe radiating old soul. My wife and daughter are my world. They both inspire me to be the best man and papa that I can.

Where I Live

I live in Ladd, Virginia, right near the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can see Afton Mountain and Love Mountain directly out our windows, which I hold both near and dear to my heart. My wife and I went on our first date on Afton Mountain, and we were married on Love Mountain. Our daughters name, Afton Love, is a resemblance to both of these places.

Why I Beard

I started growing a beard around three or four years ago, but would never let it grow into a full beard. I would let it go for a month or so, and then start fresh again. Around two years ago, I decided to let it go, and see what happens. Here we are today, being featured by Urban Beardsman, and loving every second of it. I feel that growing a beard instills confidence and helps you stand out in the crowd. The culture that has grown around bearding in the past few years is amazing. It is almost like a worldwide brotherhood, or furry faced friends and fanatics.
