Son of a Sailor Knife
Sometimes you stumble across something totally by accident and say to yourself “I have to have it.” That is exactly what happened when I saw the Whiskey Knife from Son Of A Sailor in Austin, Texas. I immediately found one from Stag Provisions, also in Austin.
“William Knopp and Jessica Tata are the husband and wife team behind Son of a Sailor. The birth of the brand is tied to their own relationship—when they first met and began designing together, Son of a Sailor was the organic result.”
“Much of the inspiration behind their handmade jewelry and accessories comes from the application of color, pattern, and geometry to materials with a rich history and story. They embrace the convergence of innovation, functionality, storytelling, and bright, bold geometry in all of their designs.”
The Whiskey Knife is a customized classic French Opinel folding pocket knife with hand-colorblocks that are inspired by signal flags. That’s right, signal flags. That’s just downright manly and nautical.
Its stainless steel blade and walnut handle are both rugged and refined. Since each one gets hand-painted with heavy-duty paint and varnish a rough patina will cover the entire finish of the knife over time.
Each knife has a 3 3/4” handle, 2 7/8” blade, for a 6 1/2” total length. With this great piece from Son of a Sailor you’ll be ship shape from stem to stern…just don’t try shaving your beard with it.
